SQL Server Tips, Tricks, and Challenges (15 – 30 Minutes)

Members of the group will share some of their tips and tricks with SQL Server.  Also anyone that would like to asks questions on how to solve a problem or get started exploring a new aspect of SQL server is encourage to participate.

T-SQL PIVOT and UNPIVOT, Scott Klein (20 – 30 Minutes)

One of the many new enhancements to T-SQL in 2005 is the PIVIOT and UNPIVOT operator.  Scott will explore this extremely useful new operator.

Report Viewer Control:  The Trials and Tribulations of a Real World Implementation, Mark Essex and Paul S. Waters (30 – 40 Minutes)

Mark and Paul will tell the story and show the code of how they integrated Reporting Services via the Report Viewer control into Methasoft 5.0.  They will cover local and remote uses of the control, its good points and its bad points, and some sort comings of Reporting Services everyone needs to know about before they start a new Reporting Services rollout.

If anyone has any SQL 2005 tips or tricks they would like to show the group please send me any code and I will have it ready for you to present on my system.  If your scripts use a different database then AdventureWorks, please send me the database as well.  Do not judge your code by how simple it seems and think we all must know it.  If it is useful please share it with us.   Any SQL 2005 features are welcome.
